Broken
I saw you waiting
On the dock under an indifferent sky
I walked over to you
Slowly, so I would not disturb
The peace between the waves.
You looked up at me
Your emerald orbs sparkling
But a shade gray beneath
I knew something was wrong
But you hid it with a smile
We both knew was fake.
You whispered the words I already knew
That she broke your heart
And left the pieces behind
That her lies
Left scars etched into your heart.
You told me you were broken
And could not be mended.
But I knew that I could save you
If I just said that I loved you.
But you wouldn’t listen
So I didn’t bother
And decided to keep the feelings inside
So they wouldn’t be shattered like your heart.
