before I met you
I was always petrified of the water
and the ocean was just a scary blue
and not the color of your eyes

and when I met you
my fear only worsened
because I was hopeless against the waves
and each day I felt myself
slowly and violently drowning in you.

but when you left
my lungs filled with sand
and I began suffocating in a endless drought
and the heat set me on fire from the inside out
and now I find myself
dying
for
a
swim.

“Crazy people are considered mad by the rest of the society only because their intelligence isn't understood.”
― Weihui Zhou

The ending is impeccable. I love the irony in it. How twisted it is. Sometimes the things we fear are the things that saves us in the end. The format of this poem is marvelous as well. Ummm...congrats on the Editors' Choice.
