Awful Fate
I watched my mom’s face
And the tears that streamed down like heavy raindrops
We all feel so displaced
In this town that used to be known for beauty and grace
Houses that once stood
Now lay, with broken windows and ruins surrounding them
The hurricane that came left so much destruction along the way
The crashing waves and terror-like sounds
Have broken the hearts of the people that once lived in the town
I glance back at my mother’s face
And I know that all of her hope
Has been killed in this awful fate
