Laundry Days

I forsook life, leaving it out to dry
Side by side with the cheap linens.
I left it billowing, white as a cloud
Amidst the mood-some tear of wind
That was akin to storms
As violent as my deepest fears.

I pinned my reality neatly,
Straightened the twisting sides,
Smothered,imprisoned,
I folded it crisply
And tucked life away, safely,
For another time.
