The Fire
What do you see in the forest of trees?
Is it the shadows cast by their lonely splendor?
Is it the rustle of the leaves on a cooling summer’s night?
Is it the slender figures created by the chilling winter’s bite?
Do we fear what lies within?
Do we seek what lay beneath?
Do we try to ride the breeze of change?
Do we hear the whispers in the darkness?
Do we listen?
Do we care?
Do we even understand?
Or do we ignore it all and move along…
When you finally come back around,
The forest will be all but turned to ash.
Don’t run,
Don’t cry,
For when everything’s come undone just remember one thing.
You ignored the embers of this fire, and forget that which you truly desired.
