The Comfort of Loneliness
The ebb and flow of the water
Is like the world
Pulling me closer and
Pushing me further away
From you.
The sand,
Its billions of particles
Representing the distance
Between us.
As the sun’s rays
Shine upon me,
I have never felt so
Disconnected.
Half a world away,
The same rays
Shine on you.
You will never hear what
I hear.
You will never see what
I see.
You will never feel what
I feel.
What I hear is the clamor
Of silence.
What I see is you
Right beside me.
What I feel is
Loneliness.
And yet,
I have never felt more
At home.
