Sixteen
Since I was a little girl I have had a dream.
That dream soon changed because it wasn’t what it seemed.
I tried to get my license the day I turned sixteen,
But unfortunately my instructor was a little mean.
After shedding some tears I dragged myself to school,
But I soon realized I had no ID and felt like a fool.
Next came Chemistry and we had to do a review.
But I had no clue so I only completed a few.
Then after a long day I was confused and dazed.
Nothing seemed to go my way I was completely fazed.
I thought in my head a surprise party was the plan,
But when I go home there was nothing but my white minivan.
My dad then told me we had to go to church.
When we got there I was bored so I began to lurch.
As soon as I walked into the gym, to my great surprise,
All my friends were standing there shouting Happy Birthday with big, excited eyes.
Although I had a crazy day, I was truly blessed.
Sweet memories I keep in my heart that I would have never guessed.
