Tug of Love
It was a fair game when we first started out
Our hands were gripped tightly on the love we had
But as months went by, we steadily lost our grip
And I thought our love was coming to an end
I couldn’t let go when that meant losing you
I wasn’t going to let you slip away from me, so I pulled harder
You saw the passion in me to hold on to our love
And you pulled back to show that you cared
Our hearts were in it to be a steady game
But as months turned into years, it became unstable
You got tired of pulling so loosened your grip
But my love for you had never faltered
I pulled and pulled while you just stood still
And it was convenient for you to pull when I stopped
The only thing I got out of this game were rashes and opened wounds
I fought that hard to have you once more
Maybe our love ran its course
And its time to drop the confusion and strife
With both hands gently letting go of the rope
We surrender to the battle with no regrets moving on
