Tattoos
Tattoos
Why get something so permanent?
Something that will stay forever.
What you like now, could change later.
Until you’re inked,
You don’t understand.
The world is always changing;
Life is unreliable.
People come and go as they please
Unaware of their effects on others
There’s no consistency
We can’t control everything
No matter how hard we try.
Things change,
People change,
We change.
But tattoos don’t.
You put them on your
Wrist,
Arm,
Ribs.
Somewhere you can see them.
There it will stay.
Forever.
You don’t have to worry if
It will be there when you wake up
You don’t have to worry if
It doesn’t like you.
You chose it.
It had no choice.
It is now a part of you.
Forever.
It represents what people cannot
See inside:
The date of a death,
The wings to fly away,
The anchor to keep you grounded.
Reminders of who you are.
When you forget what you’re fighting for,
Who you’ve become,
Or who you want to be,
They are there to remind you.
You are you,
And they are they,
And they will always
Remain the
Same.
