Growing Up
They say growing up killed us
But I know now
It is constantly watching
The accumulating cloud of iridescent darkness
Always lingering at the hazy edges
Of our luminescent sunny days
That lures us to hell
Fantasies wrapped in satin
The color of dusk slinking over
The indefinite horizon
How lovely it would be
The touch the tips of your fingers
Into that forbidden pool
Dripping into your clandestine dreams
It was not growing up that killed us
It was simply curiosity
