Another Drag
He walked alone down the old, familiar alley
A cigarette dangled from his fingers
He took a drag
Exhaling
A burnt smell clung to his skin
And lingered on his breath
Faded jeans
sagging slightly from his worn body
One hand in his pocket
Another drag
The broken zipper dangled off his smoke-stained jacket
A smack on the face from the pitiless wind
Another drag
The tousled curls that lay on his head fell
Casting a shadow
Over his abandoned brown eyes
He flicked the bud from the cigarette
Letting the ashes float down to the concrete
He leaned against the deteriorating brick wall
Another drag
He aimed a hollow gaze
Towards chain-linked fence across the way
He let the cigarette slip from his hand
Stepped on it, crushing it with the tip of his shoe
Reality set back in
And he walked down the alley
Uncertain of where he was going next
