You and I Alike
The day we met, I fell in love
A love so helplessly affixing
I felt no power without your presence
I yearned our paths intermixing
As ivory keys wooed me
With tales of passion and pride
Ebony sweetly sang to me
Whispering memories inside
Fine threads of tempered steel
Withstanding the test of time
Speaking of struggle through soft concord
Harmony, resonance, sublime
Incompatible and unyielding
You leave me painfully dismayed
Yet desperate years of time well-spent
Coax your inebriating serenade
The thirst for perfection,
Which curiously compels me
An inevitable command,
Pain without a guarantee
Then time stops as fingers reach keys
A heavenly state we are one
Reckless abandon and wary practice merge
What has happened before is done
Not only a best friend,
But also a prime foe
You return with vigor
To soak my sorrows
For all time I ceaselessly stay
Remaining steadfast at my bench
With you I inescapably dream
That for eternity, we stay entrenched
Though we have our trials
And times ridden with dislike,
We are mirrors of one another
You and I alike.
