You needed space, I needed you
Meeting in an unlikely place
Not expecting to make a friend today
But there you were and I knew
Good friends we were to become
Time went on and the closer we got
My feelings grew but my shyness was too great
I wanted to tell it all to you
The feelings like a rushing river
But the dam was too strong
The hours ticked by as I wondered
Was there any chance.
But life didn’t wait for me to make up my mind
You found another guy
Life got harder
I feel back on old habits
You tried to help but it only made things worse
You happy with a guy on your arm
Watching from a distance life became heavier
We changed and our friendship changed
Harsh words and fights over life
Things got harder
You needed space
I needed you
Darkness getting darker
Life getting heavier
Shoulders getting weaker
Emptiness growing
Hoping you speak to me again.
