I budge my foot and feel the resistance as it lifts from the sticky ground
Smoke fills my nostrils and beer sloshing out of clear, plastic cups surrounds my view
The thick, stuffy air contains us
Our eyes are fixed on the black stage
I turn towards my brother
As we flash a wide grin at each other, I can feel his excitement
The chattering in the room is heavy, echoing off the walls
Our stomachs are turning in anticipation, like the moment before the drop
at the top of a roller coaster
A single lit cigarette emerges on the carpeted stage
The crowd is in silent awe
A bright, hot spotlight flickers out a circle
As the barefooted artist is revealed, the fans go wild
Acoustic strings spread throughout the sea of people
And I'm no longer arm to arm with strangers
But instead, my invincible comrades
