Moonlit Run

April 23, 2013
By Anonymous

Run by moon, sun by day,
The sun gets to see me happy--gay.
But the moon sees the bad girl;
The one who withers herself away.

The sun watches me weigh myself,
But it doesn't see that someone else.
The one the moon watches,
Who nimbly avoids the pantry shelf.

The sun's too blinding to see the pain.
The tears I shed at every gain.
But the moon sympathizes with my struggles,
At every wax and wane.

The sun's rays warm brittle bones.
The moon listens to my sobbing moans.
She sheds her light through my windows;
I cut my hips, all alone.

The sun smiles down, bright but dumb.
It's oblivious, like everyone.
And apart from I who also knows...
Is the moon the only one?
Sun by day, moonlit run.
