Backyard Battle Fields

Ammunition of words demeaning,
Loaded firearm created by the worlds’ unstable.
In possession of a man with one intention
His head altered by a drug so inhumane.
Pointed in the direction of the weak and innocent
With the inevitability of wounding.
Blindfolded onlookers,
Those distressed hide and kept away
Intangible scars of past damage.
Truth lying in the backyards,
Belonging to the perceived as typical.
Gardening sheds only seen from the outside.
Shovels used to cover the undesirables
Buried in the remnants of past battles.
Uprooting from ashes, an unblossomed potential,
Rising, outgrowing from a history of unforgotten battles.
Breaking way to stand tall above the littered soil,
A commodity deformed, but none more or less than its name
Unique in many ways, stronger than those fallen.
Unstoppable, with the purpose of any other
To live and to grow in the midst of this life.
