Scurrying down the halls
plummeting down flat on your face
rules are not standards
fun to play just normal school day nothing much to say

Teachers shrieking
“Don’t run with scissors down the hallway”
1 o’clock 2o’clock 3o’clock 4

Ground trembling and rumbling against
the wrath of the little children’s
feet at recess

A dilemma of life or death
nightmares come alive, and bead of sweat
rolling down the wrinkled faces

But wait?
This is nothing more than just
a normal school day

The bell rings, the day stops
the kids are gone
but not for long…..

The author's comments:
I volunteered at a pre-school, and i noticed that the kids were giving the teachers a hard time. They had so much energy to run around and play. It reminded me of all the good times before homework, school, friends, drama and all that. That is how this poem came to be.
