" Do I Look Ok? "
She plays soccer 5 days a week
Stretches every night
Swims on the days she can
Hoping someday he might
She picks out the best shorts she has
Shops for the best jeans
Finger’s crossed and hoping one day
That he will surely see
She tangles her long necklace hanging
An exotic snake on a tree
With its silver, bright, sparkly tail
Fiddling with her dark leaves
Her dark hair falls over her necklace
Her blonde dyed piece on the left
A streak of the star falling out of the sky
And a wish she’s always kept
She painted her eyes with eyeliner
Decorating the endless cave
Her dark pupils showing depth
For an adventurer surely brave.
Then after she straightened her hair for a while
Not leaving a single strand curly,
Straightening out the wrinkled paper
Hoping that he would surely.
Notice what she goes through,
Right before she leaves.
Crossing her fingers and wishing
For something she believes.
“I hope he’ll notice my smile
I took care of my teeth real fine
And the next time that he calls my name
My smile will really shine!”
“I hope he compliments my hair,
Styling it since last night
Hoping it would look just perfect
Just for his clear sight,”
“I hope my outfit looks fine
I wore the shirt he adored
And shorts of his favorite color
Let’s see if he likes it more.”
True she had spent hours getting ready
And adding a special bonus
But truth is the boy she tried to impress
Had never really noticed.
