Scars
Once on the day her dad moved his girlfriend in
She picked up a blade
And made a single cut
Because some people had said it had helped
And she watched it bleed
And cried the whole time
And she told her father it was his fault
And he took her to therapy
And the therapist said
That it wasn't a way to cope
And it wasn't healthy
And she needed to stop it right now
And she went home and showered
With hot water and new tears
The next day she wore long sleeves
Because she didn't want anyone to see
And she held back tears the whole day
And her father forgot all about it
And she decided to too
Once on the day her best friend betrayed her
She picked up a blade
And sliced a few dashes
Because she couldn't live without her
And she took one look
And shook with her tears
And she told her friend it was her fault
And her friend admitted her wrong
And she then said
That she wanted her to be happy
And she was very sorry
And that she'd never do it again
And the girl rinsed off the blood
With warm water and twenty tissues
The next day she wore short sleeves
Because she wanted her friend to see
And she made sure she did a lot
And she went home exhausted
And decided to just die
Once on the day her sister tried to kill her
She picked up a blade
And sliced her arm open
Because she wanted her to see the pain
And she watched the reaction
And smiled at her tears
And she told her sister it was her fault
And she closed the door
And her sister screamed
That she didn't want to lose her
And she really did care
And she'd to anything to make it right
And the girl chipped off the blood
With stubby nails and gift cards
The next day she wore nothing
Because no one was going to see
And she lay around naked all day
And her sister went out with her friends
And she decided not to
That's why one a day when no one was home
She picked up her blades
And didn't cut herself
Because she didn't need any more pain
And she looked in the mirror
And shed one single tear
And she told herself it was no one's fault
And dropped them in the trash
Because she didn't think she needed them really
