Late Night Conversations
Last night,
Like I always do,
I fell into a state so
Insane that psychotic
Would be considered an understatement.
My heart beats rapidly,
Elephants are nesting in my room.
My vision is blurry,
The fog is blowing through my broken window.
My body grows numb,
The nurses surround me with
Syringes.
I’m sure it’s a sedative
Of some sort.
Because the screaming
Won’t be tolerated.
Straight jackets are far too
Complicated
And tiresome to be used.
Chains and shackles,
Are considered cruel,
And even though the fog
Grips my retinas,
I can see the whips radiating
In their eyes.
The needle pricks my skin,
And I feel relief,
And their sighs,
Have shared this with me.
I feel myself falling,
Holes,
Gaping holes ready to take me.
I can see the devils dogs waiting,
They know they
Have a meal when I fall through.
I crash into the flames.
I let my new state consume me.
All of me.
I hear the faint whispers
Of the relieved,
And the cries of the terrified.
They don’t know
It’s better down here.
No light.
No love.
No souls.
We check our humanity
At the door.
Hell is a fine,
Fine place
For people like me.
