Eagle Eye
The eagle soars on silent wings
High in the sky doing eagle things
A single tear leaks from his eagle eye
Falling down through the morning sky

Oh why, oh why, does he have to die
For die he will by human hands
The hands of hate, of love, of plans

Plans just for them of course,
Not feeling a twinge of remorse
 At an eagles plight
For surely he will lose this fight

The fight to win: to live and love
 So above, high above,
 To the heaven he’ll go
To lands of which we’ll never know

 Where the green grass grows
 And the water flows,
With not a single human in
 Sight

The beat of his heart lets us know
He’s still here, but not for long
 Soon he’ll be gone

His body will fall from the sky
 Startling passers-by
He’ll be dead to us, but his spirit will just
 Keep flying and
 Crying for a better place

Far out of the reaches of the human race
He’ll find his place by the rivers edge
Rest his head and go to bed.

So on silent wings he’ll go
 To a place where
 No human knows
