"What to the slave is the fourth of July?" - Frederick Douglass

Poisoned by the lies which come from the mouths of those who continue to try and corrupt the minds of all who refuse to buy what they are selling, and those who sigh and happily ignore the stories that they are telling.

As we the people long for the taste of knowledge and hope, the ignorant takes the stand and tries to drag us in with rusty chains and tightly threaded ropes. Plug your ears and close your eyes; block off the signs that try to enter your mind, sight, and lead you to the big boat of failure.

Don't let the negative control you, rebel and get past all of the barbed wire.

A rapper by the name of Kendrick Lamar inspired me to write this. His music spoke to me because it was beyond positive. It sort of grabbed my brain and soul and just pulled it closer until the bulb lit and busted and instead of glass flying in every direction, words, quotes, ideas and happiness flew everywhere. He is very great at what he does and his music and words help me a lot. I hope the strong and also the weak can get not only a lesson, but piece of mind out of this poem. I hope it fuels the minds of everyone.
