I Hate Work
I hate work, it sucks,
but I have to bring in the big bucks.
In walks a couple holding hands,
the tall white, muscular man, wearing shorts and a sweatband.
Looking red in the face as if he just had practice,
he said he just won his game at the Concordia campus.
The woman is black. She wears a long coat,
at her side is a black and blue tote.
They look snotty. They look suspicious.
But the man’s light blue eyes are not vicious,
along with his gentle, careful voice,
strawberry and banana is their yogurt of choice.
They leave the store holding hands. Glove in glove.
It makes me sick. How could they be in love?
I don’t have love. I am bitter about it,
I will die alone, I will throw a fit.
But before I go,
I must let you know…
he doesn’t love me, but I love him so.
