To See the World

One day I will travel the world.
I know,
How cliché must this sound…

But really.
I find it hard to believe that I will ever be complete without witnessing an aurora in the Canadian skies,
Looking up in bewilderment at the overwhelming beauty of the various colors mixing into one,
Or swimming along the Great Barrier Reef in Australia,
Observing all the different types of exotic fish,
As my body glides through the crystal clear water,
Or ascending the Eiffel Tower,
And then descending for a lovely French dinner,
All the while making friends with locals in the streets with my newly polished French,
Or skiing the slopes of the Alps in Switzerland during the springtime,
Wearing a simple long-sleeve t-shirt,
Or experiencing the culture present in an Indonesian market,
As I decide between the familiarity of grapes,
Or the daring unknown of some foreign fruit that is indigenous to the country.

Wherever, I am,
I only wish to be constantly learning.

I cannot bear the thought of staying put,
Never fully realizing that there truly is so much out there beyond the realm of one’s comfort.

But I am not asking for comfort.

In fact, I don’t think I ever have.

The author's comments:
I have this dire need to see the world; it is no longer a desire. I know that I am not alone in this. The unknown inspires. The unknown teaches. The unknown bewilders. The unknown excites. Inspiration, knowledge, bewilderment, excitement: these are all things I crave. And I am confident that travel will one day help fulfill many of these genuine desires, as well as mold me into somebody who has so much more to offer.
