O Bedroom Floor
O bedroom floor, O bedroom floor!
Where for art thou?
I s'pose I've dropped too many things
and cannot see you now!
From beneath the flotsam debris you peek
Buried, almost forgotten
How dark your world has been these weeks
It's time that you were trodden.
This daunting task nigh quells my heart
I’ve clothes-pinned up my nose
What foul mysteries await me now
Succumbed to decompose
I've sworn to myself time and again
to cart away your burden
but “buts” and delays must end today,
of this I’m sure and certain.
Bring in the heavy machinery
Delve through sedimentary deposits
See how nicely the back hoe
packs everything in the closet
How fascinating, the discoveries
that have readily occurred
Such an abundance of forgotten things
Suspended in fossil record
So here I go, filth's fate is grim
My brow is damp with sweat,
O bedroom floor, I’ve caught a glimpse
Your foe is vanquished yet!
