I know the value of a dollar
So George Washington hold your tongue
I know the pain of third world children
A dollar wont keep their souls young
America the Bold and oh so beautiful
Extends her arms to everyone outside of her boundaries.
What about your children America
Extend your arms to us Momma
"With just $1 you can help these children who are suffering" millions of miles away
What about your children Mother
What can help us from the suffering each and every day.
I know the value of a dollar
I remember going hungry
I feel the pain of the homeless
I see why their so angry
Momma why wont you help us
we're pleading with you America
Help your babies Momma
I know how far a dollar can go
I know what its like to starve
I know the trouble without a home
I understand the poor and homeless
Millions of us across the country
"Help these children" across the world
Bypass your children just let it unfurl
We are your Baby America
Help us now
I know the value of a dollar
George Washington hold your tongue
America help your children
We can no longer be strung

The author's comments:
My inspiration towards writing this piece was the after affects of Hurricane Sandy. Millions of Americans across the nation lost everything yet aid took so long to come. Even now FEMA and insurance companies are stringing people along when we have nothing but the clothes on our backs and the shoes on our feet. I hope when people read this they can understand the pain of the suffering Americans who have to carry on everyday as if nothing happened.
