The Day at M.E.P.S.
I arrive at about four with the cool whisper of the morning air.
I had to leave my phone in my bag which they made me leave in a small room.
I walked through the door labeled “NAVY LIASON”.
I sat in a chair for hours on end only getting up to do tests.
They took my hearing, they took my sight,
They took my blood and even my mind.
Then after hours of anxiety and stress,
A raspy voice called my name.
I prepared all my paperwork,
I told the truth to the investigator who tried his best to disqualify me.
It all was worth it in the end,
When I raised my hand at the flag and said the oath of enlistment,
With my fellow recruits standing by my side,
Shoulder to shoulder.
In the end,
It was worth the day at M.E.P.S.
