Every morning when I wake up
I hear the movement of the trees
The honking of a distant horn
And when it’s windy a gentle breeze

My mouth is closed, my ears are open
Live your life being truly outspoken
But when its time listen closely
For words do have some difficulties.

Every night when the lights are out
I hear the sounds of children screaming
Doing a little song and a dance
Or just living there, believing

My mouth is closed, my ears are open
Live your life being truly outspoken
But when its time listen closely
For words do have some difficulties.

During the day when the children are at school
I hear the cars bustling by
A crunch of a sandwich
Or just a little bird’s cry

My mouth is closed, my ears are open
Live your life being truly outspoken
But when its time listen closely
For words do have some difficulties.

Now during the night while we’re sound a sleep
I hear the silence of the trees
I hear the silence of the children
I hear the silence of the cars

My mouth is open, my ears are closed
Make sure you say what you have to say
And live your life being truly outspoken
