i want to remember
more vividly than i do
for my memories are fading
and more so than ever
i want to remember you

but i don't want the recollections
that usually come first
and consist of that last summer
in which i met grief
for those memories are the worst

i used to settle for stories
and any fact that i could gain
so i'd have some link to you
which was enough at one point
but now i wonder if it was in vain

you would still be here
if life would have allowed the time
yet the years keep passing
so our link weakens
and forgetting is my accidental crime
