Daddy's Lies
Empty words can only last for so long before they crumble,
And the day he left a mark on my skin was the last day I believed them
I vowed to never sit back like mom and take what I didn't deserve,
Those bulls*** lies of "Sweetie, I promise, I'll always love you."
Innocence can only last for so long,
And you can only make so many excuses
Before you're forced to face the fact
That your daddy's promise was nothing but a lie.
