Hear me out when I say that school is just alright.
We work all day at school, we work at home all night.
The pressure, the bullying- it all needs to stop.
We walk into school, and see all faces drop.

Now I’m not saying that there’s bad education.
But the tests and the pressure just causes frustration.
I believe there needs to be a better foundation,
It seems as if schools are in desperation...

Desperation for statistics and desperation for funds.
As if you’re only important if you’re the number one.
And not important in sports or art,
They care only if you are extremely smart.

And not normal, not nerdy, not anything else.
They care if your popular, you can’t be yourself.
Group projects is like saying who knows everyone?
It’s not the same if you’re not number one.

Even if you’re number two,
Someone’s always better than you.
That’s how school sees it, if you don’t take AP,
You mean nothing to them- they mean nothing to me.

And not only that but it’s a popularity contest.
Comparing grades, seeing who is the best.
Can’t we just learn without compare,
Our grades honestly don’t need to be shared.

Grades just make people cocky or feel dumb,
As if to just make everyone feel glum.
And then report cards and GPA.
Can’t all the comparisons go away?

It doesn’t help anyone, it makes others feel bad.
When you fail or don’t get an A it makes them feel sad.
But of course those that do will rub it in your face,
Pushing you away, you feel so disgraced.

And honestly I wish school could be more fun.
I wish everyone could be everything, not just the number one.
I wish everything was not a popularity contest.
I honestly wish everyone was considered the best.

I wrote this because I think school can be unfair. They recognize the popular people and the brainiacs. It's the fact that if you're not the valedictorian, you're nothing in their eyes...
