Lost in an Unexpected Place
We survey the grounds to find our site,
As time goes on there is nothing despite.
While hiking along the dense, wooded trail,
We spot a piece of earth that will suit without fail.
Our site is grand and none complain,
Although we are lost, we hold no shame.
Where can we be?
We should not be far,
What will we do beyond the hot tar?
We retrace our steps where we traveled from,
But how did we get here from our kingdom?
I pull out my compass to map the landscape,
To my chagrin there is no escape.
I turn around to notify thee,
Noticing one, two, three flee.
For what has come about I am appalled,
Why would they ditch me?
Just to play ball?
Still without them I need to find my way,
So I reroute my compass north bound all in the same day.
North is the way home I shall wait and find out,
But getting lost in the woods is what hiking’s about.
