Taking time to see
When did you take the time
To hear of her papa’s last chime?
Have you ever looked at her arms
And asked of how she got those scars?
Did you look into her eyes
And see those painful goodbyes?
When you look at me can you see?
Those long months with no hellos
Just being a complete no show
She thought you were amazing and great
But you just made her full of hate
But do you ever stop and stare?
At the girl beneath the curly hair
She wanted to scream and yell
She couldn’t, you had her under your spell
You thought of her only as a friend
No wonder things would just be at an end
She wanted to cry and never see you again
Everytime you left, she would feel wain
It took you years, but you finally saw
That the girl you would blow off was always there through all your flaw
When you look at me what do you think?
Do you judge her for her looks?
Have you ever seen her pick up a book?
How can a face like hers be so hurt?
Even though she smiles at a birds chrip.
But do you ever stop and stare?
At the girl beneath the curly hair
She laughs and she cries
But she can never forget those lies
She plays it off, as it is nothing
But in her heart, it means something.
The names she has been shot with
All went through and broke her heart off chip by chip
When you look at me what do you remember?
Do you remember her in middle school?
When all she wanted to be is cool
Tried to fit in with any friends she could get
She would even fall in for those stupid bets
But do you ever stop and stare?
At the girl beneath the curly hair
She won’t forget those tears that fell
On all those nights when he would dwell
Should I be with her or should I go?
She just wanted to know you had a soul
You reminded her of all those boys
To dumb and stupid to treat her more than a toy
When you look at me can you see?
That one summer night that left her in fear
The one boy who just wanted a cheer
He seduced her and smoked his weed
She only thought he was making his lead
But do you ever stop and stare?
At the girl beneath the curly hair
Around his lies and his mind
She knew something just wasn’t in line
But she trusted him a little to much
He forced her and pushed her all in his clutch
She felt her legs spread
She longed to just be fled
But she was too afraid
She knew her family would see her as only a degrade
She was lucky to have gotten out
Right before he pushed in route
Once again, she wanted to hate
But that isn’t in her fate
When you look at me do you see the girl beneath?
A girl who just has the biggest star of hope
Which at one point was on a slope
She smiles as much as she able
Just wanting to forget the days of unstable
So next time you look at me
I want you to think that maybe
There is a girl beneath the skin she wear
That she will always forgive and truly care:]
