Separate
They said to keep
life separate.
They said to focus
on important things.
What is important?
“School” is their only answer.
What happens after school though?
“Homework” is their only response.
What about boys?
“Not important” is their only answer.
I think they are wrong.
I see others.
I am not stupid.
They have lives
and good grades.
They date,
play sports,
do clubs,
and hang.
They still do well.
Why can’t I as well?
I think…
I can’t think anymore,
they want me to pass.
So pass I will.
They said to keep
life separate.
So separate is how
life will be…
for now.
