We're Here
I look all around me and see everything decked out in white, green and red
I realized that I couldn’t get everyone something, so I wrote this poem instead
I wrote it to tell us the real reason why we celebrate Yule
Selfish reasons and hateful words are saved for the fool
Everything that worried us once before
Religion, money, hatred, and war
We put it behind us for a new beginning
A new start to leave us grinning
We sit around a tree, decorated in lights and bows
We smile and laugh as our happiness grows
I’m sorry that we didn’t get much this year
But at least we can say that we’re here
