I am from
I am from cat fur;
from kibble and my cat, Katie’s love.
I am from my first pet Chickadee.
(A rooster chick with small, yellow feathers;
once fluffy, then white).
I am from the swing upon the tree.
a Maple.
I still remember feeling weightless
like the helicopter seeds.
I am from Bluegrass and cornfields;
from pacemakers to sequins.
I’m from Honors classes and very missed friends;
from homework and long books.
I’m from a wonderful God whose son saved us with his blood
and a Bible that tells His story.
I’m from Scott and Jenni’s branch, with Bill’s intertwined.
grilled out food and soda.
from my mom’s Ehlers-Danlos
and my grandmother’s dementia.
The old friends; the new ones.
Relatives long gone and those here now.
New friends to meet and old ones to greet
Some in reality; some in slumber.
I am from all of this.
The wind is fickle.
Blowing the leaves of the family apart, then together
and some off.
