Thump, thump I felt the beat of my heart raise
As stared upon her grave in a watery gaze
read in ghastly stone are the words “Mary Keep”
this is her life, a story of sincerity I weep

There is no fairytale behind her death
just a measly bed in a moth-eaten cabin where she took her last breath
this time there are no queenless kings
the ones behind her death were even worse, the ones with wings
jealous... ya that’s what they were
Simply jealous of the love between me and her

Our connection.... our bond was worth less than dirt
but was our life of honesty, a life with no hurt
we had nothing to own but our soul to the beach
but not even the sand and the waves were out of the angel’s reach
with little to own the rocks and the tides became our home
but even as she lays in the ground the beach is hers to forever roam

The heavens flooded with jealousy when they saw our hands touch
So they did their evil and took her hand from my clutch
and not a day goes by that I don’t look at the broken “Mary Keep”
not a day goes by when I do not think of her story and weep
