More Than Fear

December 6, 2012

Fear consumes me
Fear of loss
Fear of gain
Fear of pain
Fear of the end
No time left to spare and
I can hear it calling my name
The days have never been the
same. I have to hide my shame
in moments of pure weakness.
This life has left scars and only time
can heal them. I feel like a shadow
moving in the back of the room. This
world is my own gray blur.

The author's comments:
This poem was inspired by fear. Many people have fears and never confront them. Some people are even ashamed of their own fears. This poem is also about feeling hurt and invisible. Understanding the world can be complicated, especially when you're afraid of what the world might really be like.
