Year of the Clock
That single moment
Before the clock strikes twelve
The bridge between now and then
This year and the next
Everything is new again
The clock our savior
Our deliverer
And we all hold our breath
Or crash our lips into another’s
Reeking of shame
Clutching to hope
Making promises we can’t keep
We are resolute
The face with two hands distorts our view
Or maybe it’s the booze
It feels corrosive in our stomachs
“This is my blood”
The bile burns our throat
Confetti showers down
“This is my body”
It clings to our eyelashes like snowflakes
“Repent”
The wristwatch is our catalyst
This, our rebirth
