Anticipation
November 16, 2012
Awaiting my turn,
I watch the others go before me.
They push themselves to their limit,
every second counts.
The previous heat comes to a finish,
and I approach.
I try to ease my nerves;
nothing can stop the adrenaline that flows coldly through my veins
Edging into position I look around,
sizing up each and every individual.
I swallow hard trying to keep my mind on what’s at stake.
Waiting for the commands I take a deep breath and look up.
One arm rises as the other hand pulls the trigger.
Bam!
I am off,
Four laps to go.
