The escape
17 and stumbling through the halls
In a rat maze running into all the walls
“How can I grow”? No such place to go
The voices I choose to hear melt away like snow
What holds me back I just don’t know

Survival of the fittest is but a game
Ask the clown without a brain
He’ll be standing next to the beauty queen
 Chasing some far off dream
But to tell her would kill her self-esteem

I’ve seen them all time and time again
Hiding safely in the comfort of my own den
 What I’ve come to realize
 Too dangerous for my eyes
Is we’re all just blind rats in disguise
