Loved one

Night settles in, stealing all my senses. I know that I'm safe, but can't lower my defenses. The new star finds me to save me from despair; but I suffocate in the memories too warm to share. Darkness encroaches and consumes my screams. Shadows mask the tears I stream. Loneliness surrounds me, your arm gone from my sight. I lay down a rose and pray you rest in peace tonight.
