Lost in a crowd of people,
I look like an exact replica,
Just smaller. Quieter. Lonelier.
I follow you around,
Hiding in your shadow,
A dark safe place,
Where I can never escape.

5 years old,
Forgotten at the store,
Third times the charm,
I stand and wait out front,
Waiting for someone to realize I'm gone,
Waiting to be seen,
A lost child.

Invisible,
Is how I feel,
When it takes you 2 weeks,
Just to realize my 16th birthday had already passed.
What does it matter?
An expensive gift and all is better,
Everything is forgiven,
Right?

My name,
No longer exists,
Just a "hey you" and I respond,
Until I don't even recognize,
The title you once entrusted to me.
