I can stay right here
And always keep you near.
I can wait a lifetime
If you'll let me call you "dear".

But I will not be fine
If you will not be mine.
I know that this could work,
So just give me a sign.

My heart starts to race
When we are face to face.
But do you feel the same
When we share an embrace?

You are just my kind,
which is quite hard to find.
Though friendship could be nice,
It's love that's on my mind.

Will you let me know
If I should stay or go?
If you don't wish to keep me
Then it will be so.

I knew from the start
I could not have your heart.
I wish I understood
What could keep us apart.

The author's comments:
Romance does not always come as easy as we may dream about. As much as we can strive to match our dreams we are forced to face the reality and complexity of relationships. Often enough we are drawn to the people situated frequently in our everyday lives and feelings can easily grow from these relationships. The confusion of evolving a friendship into a relationship is very troublesome which inspired me to express the feeling of failure and despair when one is feeling love lost before it has even started.

The room was very quiet. I walked over to the TV set and turned it onto a dead channel-white noise at maximum decibels, a fine sound for sleeping, a powerful continuous hiss to drown out everything strange."

I like this.

I really love what you wrote in your side note. I am actually in that sort of situation in my life right now, so it hit home for me.

Good work and I hope to see some more work of yours. :)
