"I was thinking how nothing lasts and what a shame that is."-Benjamin Button

I stabbed my heart for you last night
I saw the blood pouring out of my breast
Lying on the floor, I couldn’t breathe
I walked to you with the wound in my chest
walked to you so you could see
the hole in my heart I made myself
You stand up
You hold me
You say everything will be okay as you rush me to the hospital
Now you love me

Houses and houses all lined up
Tangled trees wind their trunks around
I have many men to choose from now
As they want me for a body to hold
The warmth of their skin doesn’t make my heart melt
Bodies on fire burn out their flames
Boys leave my naked body cast in bed sheets, lonely and unsatisfied, they leave me for the night
I can pretend to a shed a tear for his doing, but he is not the reason I wake up crying
I didn’t stab my heart for him, I didn’t watch blood seep out
I came to you with all my pain, showing you that I am hurt,
because I want you to take care of me

I lay in my bed of shadows
afternoon sun creeps in through the windows
Vision distorted, fingertips wrinkly red
I couldn’t move myself out of bed
I dialed your number after December
Called you to carry me out
Called you to take care of me
Love me when I am unwell, tell me everything will be okay
