God's Fan Club
"God's Fan Club"

I get angry when people use religion to excuse everything they do
I get that you love the Lord
But I think you need to rethink your worldview
He's not there to be your moral sword

 I walk by churches sometimes
Outside, people stand with their slogans and signs
"All of you sinners, to hell for your crimes!"
"You may not know this, but God hates your kind!"

Sometimes, I want to go up to that place of prayer
And paint a big, black sign across the walls
That says, "Of this you may not be aware,
But God happens to love us all."

Always, always, they spout off God's commands
"And God says don't do this and this and this and that!"
"Do you do these things?" I want to demand
"Otherwise your argument falls a bit flat."

God is not there for your own personal use
He's not there as the key for a sinners' cell
And if you continue to be obtuse
Well, then we're not the ones that are going to hell

God's an okay guy, without a doubt
To be honest, it's not really Him I snub,
But if there's one thing I could do without
 It's his damned fan club.
