as genuine as any hungry actor
reciting his lines to a packed house
their hands fit together, almost
his generic brand beauty
with the eyes and the lashes and the lips
she could be anyone's daughtersisterneighbor
and it feels exactly like last time
last week and
the time before that
because it's only coffee rings on dog-eared scripts
typecast lovers, interchangeable roles
like a relay race, syncopated breath,
you're in, you're out – don't miss a beat.
