Foot Prints in the Sand

Grains of sand
Wet, mushy
Sliding between your toes
As the salty water
Rushes in playful delight over them
Wriggling like worms
Slippery as snakes
They are taken and released
From the water’s grasp
You hear a voice calling you
In the background
Gloomily you trudge
Up the untamed sand dunes
Leaving foot prints in the sand
Eventually to be covered up by
Wind, ocean, and rain
