Glances, darting glances, at the clock upon the wall
Torpid minutes slide away like the raindrops on the window-pane
Writing, quickly writing, ideas which collide like Dominos
A stagnant river of intellectual creativity, left to fester in its own, unguided filth
Whiteness, blinding whiteness, stares up at me with a sardonic smirk
Singing my academic eulogy from the tempting depths of nothingness
Ideas, final ideas, rest at the gates of my tumultuous mind
Unable to lift this work of utter desperation with their broken wings
Inspiration, comedic inspiration, crackles to life amidst my swirling thoughts
To wrap myself in anesthetic laughter, to numb the pain of mental lethargy
Title, a gripping title, to draw eyes away from the wasteland below
Trembling, I write: A Study in Nihilism
