I thought that this would be easy,
But now I know it’s not-
Dealing with this wanton heart,
And this lonesome lot.
I thought that we could go back
To the way things were before,
But now I see that the past
Is shattered on the floor.
I thought that this would be different,
That the pain would pass on by.
But now I understand:
Alone is as big as the sky.
